How the scoring works

Every answer maps to points on a fixed rubric. Nothing is guessed from free text: the two short text answers only shape the wording of your verdict and fixes. Weights change with your stage, because the right priorities before 10 customers are wrong at 50.

The math: overall score = the weighted average of the 8 dimension scores × 10. Bands: 0–39 Leaky, 40–54 Fragile, 55–69 Solid, 70–84 Strong, 85+ Excellent. A leak's impact is its weight × the points it's missing. A dimension that can't apply yet (no users, no calls) shows as “not yet” and drops out of the average instead of counting as zero.

FAQ

How is the GTM Scorecard scored?
Each answer maps to points on a fixed rubric across 8 dimensions: positioning, ICP, pipeline, pricing, conversion, retention, channels and GTM rhythm. Weights depend on your stage. The same answers always produce the same score, and every dimension shows the reason behind its number.
Where does the rubric come from?
From the go-to-market frameworks founderguide uses, credited to their authors: April Dunford on positioning, Winning by Design on ICP, Peter Cohan on demos, Madhavan Ramanujam and Patrick Campbell on pricing, Lincoln Murphy and Casey Winters on retention, Brian Balfour on channels. founderguide isn't affiliated with or endorsed by them.
What does AI do in the scorecard?
AI never sets your score. It writes the parts that need your context: the one-line verdict, the fix for each of your top 3 leaks and your first-week plan, using your answers and the computed scores.
I don't have revenue yet. Is the scorecard still useful?
Yes. Pre-revenue founders get different questions, about conversations, commitments and willingness to pay instead of churn and win rates, and a dimension that can't apply yet shows as “not yet” instead of a zero.
Is it free?
Yes, with no signup. Your verdict, overall score and all 8 dimension scores with their reasons are free. Add your email to unlock your top 3 leaks with fixes, what good looks like at your stage and your first-week plan.
